MILITONYAN EDUARD
Eduard Militonyan
Poet, prose writer, children’s author, painter, chess player, member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia since 1977.
Born on May 12, 1952, in Yerevan, Armenia. He studied at Yerevan School No. 70 and graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Yerevan State University (YSU) in 1974. He worked in the press, including “Pioner”, “Tsitsernak” (as Editor-in-chief) and “Garun”. In 1992, he was appointed the first deputy head of the State Department of Radio and Television of Armenia , later serving as an Head. In 1995, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Publishing of the Republic of Armenia, and in 1996, Director of Armenian Radio. He was the head of the Department of Propaganda and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, advisor to the prime minister of Armenia, head of the Government’s Department of Information and Public Relations, head of the Department of Information and Publishing under the Government of Armenia, head of the Publishing Agency under the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of Armenia. In 2010, he was appointed head of the renamed Publishing Center of the Ministry of Culture, a position he held until 2016. In 2004, he was elected the secretary of the WUA and in 2013, the chairman of the Writers’ Union of Armenia.
He is the author of 97 published books in Armenian and other languages ( 27 books ) and has 3 translated books. He has edited and projected the publication of 16 anthologies.
His paintings have been exhibited in Armenia and abroad.
He has written screenplays for several films, with “Yerablur”, “Vardavar”, and “Tearnndaraj” which are in the archives of the “Yerevan” Studio. He is also the author of the television program “Vernatun. He has published a book on a chess theme in various literary genres, which also includes chess problems and etudes.
